Expert Consultant

Dr. Gloria J. Burgess is a leadership consultant, executive coach, educator, and expert designer of unique, innovative learning experiences. Her focus is singular: transformation.

She positions her work at the potent intersectionality of leadership and the arts, drawing on her expertise in theatre, music, poetry, dance, and design. A former business executive, Gloria has also served as interim dean, program lead, and lead faculty. Her faculty roles include University of Washington (UW) Executive Leadership Program in Public Affairs, UW Non-Profit Executive Leadership Institute, University of Southern California Executive Leadership Program, Seattle University Transformational Leadership Program, and Casey Family Program Executive Leadership Institute. She also leads forums, seminars, and workshops, on transformational leadership in corporate, health care, arts, government, faith, financial, IT, and educational contexts.

A dynamic, sought-after speaker, Gloria has presented on six continents in 30+ countries in diverse venues, including the South African Embassy, Boeing, Microsoft, and Starbucks. One of the few practitioner-scholars who integrates organizational leadership and creative artistry, she combines insightful commentary and personal engagement, weaving the arts into her inspiring keynotes and transformational learning experiences to foster hope, courage, creativity, healing, and resilience—qualities we all yearn for. Born in rural Mississippi, Gloria came of age during the turbulent Civil Rights Movement. She says, “Integrating intercultural excellence into my work is not an option. It is an imperative—to effectively equip global leaders.” Gloria lives with her husband John in the Pacific Northwest and calls the world her home.
